Now it's all very nice having the Wolfire logo as the loading screen. And you'll probably change it sometime.
My computer tends to take a while to load levels, so I got around to thinking about the loading screen.
I was thinking you could a loading screen that gives the user something to read, like a description of the level they're loading.
Or, using internet access, some of the latest alpha changes. Maybe for if you have an online scoreboard or something, you can list some of the highscores.
That's my two cents.

Some fun trivia always work.
Or perhaps a Message of The Day?

Re: Loading Screen suggestion
Fun, but not obvious trivia would be great.
Not like you see in many shooters nowdays, loading screens reminding you that cars explode and shotguns work best in close-range.
Maybe some interesting trivia about the cultures of the rabbits/cats/dogs/rats/wolfs, facts about the history, etc.

The object of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other bastard die for his.

I like the idea of showing info about the world and the different races. Having some concept art as loading screen would make it perfect!

Yeah, I like these ideas!BlackHole wrote:Maybe some interesting trivia about the cultures of the rabbits/cats/dogs/rats/wolfs, facts about the history, etc.
Or maybe we could have actual rabbit/wolves/etc. facts...
"Rabbits cannot vomit".
"Rabbits can see behind them, but have a blind spot in front of their face."
and so on...

I think that people might mistake them for being actual game mechanics, it might also pull you out of the atmosphere of the game.jaketa wrote:Or maybe we could have actual rabbit/wolves/etc. facts...

To give information about Lugaru (the world), is a good way of pulling the player into the world and immersing him further while the level is loading.
Re: Loading Screen suggestion
Yeah, it was just a joke, but you are right.
What I would like to see is your idea about showing concept art while loading. It would be interesting to see the concept for the level, the races you would encounter there, the weapons they would use, etc.
