[WIP] Canyon Village

Post by Wormwood » Sat Jan 19, 2013 1:58 pm

[name might change]

So I've decided to make my first map. I'll be using the terrain from Last's "River Canyon" map. The story starts with Don (you) returning home from a long journey to find his village under attack. I plan on making a sequel (with the same map) when I'm done. Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks to:
Last for the map
Spudy for the fire effects

It's hard to make the fire look realistic, but for the logs, you can obviously just pile up a bunch of round posts.

I think there are a few different options for making a campfire. Search the Wolfire folder for "fire", there's a few official objects and a few custom ones i think.

Did you mean to upload your map? I'd like to try it out.

Not until it's done. It's still work in progress (WIP). Thanks for the help, by the way, I'll look into it.

Freaking jew, I just lost all my work. I went to open the level and it loaded the original map, from before I made any changes. Yay, life.

That's fantastic, Spudy, thanks. I can't get the smoke to work, though, but I don't think I need it.

As for me losing the level, I guess I'll just have to start over. This time, I'll be sure to make more than one backup.

Gotta say, the overgrowth community is very helpful. Makes things a lot easier.

Hmm... Originally, I wanted the map to have a river running through it, but now I'm not so sure....

If you were using SUMLauncher, it's possible that your map is still saved on your computer. Were you hitting ctrl-s throughout the process? That would be how you save the level...

If you were, you should also check: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Wolfire\Overgrowth\Data\Levels - your level might be there.
