[Map] The Void

A custom map with unique heightmap and sky, used to create the void. A parkour-style map with a few enemies.
Works best with Anton's menu mod as it has a warp point.

Nice map! It's like being lost in one of those old TV's when there was no input.

You should add in that obnoxious noise.

Maybe you should put in some sound objects with white noise looping. Might be cool.

So this map isn't working for me in it's current download... The xml file still points to a lot of files in /Textures/Terrain/test/ but you moved everything to /Textures/Terrain/void/ as well as renamed your height map. That being said, I've gotten it to load once, but something in the level is still causing my game to crash, I'm not sure why though. I literally rebuilt the level line by line, and it worked. Then I tried to rename it, and it crashes... I don't know why. I get a segmentation fault error, and it crashes the game... really weird.

It was VERY cool when it was working for me, and can't wait to play it more!

On a side note, I don't like mediafire... at all... which is one of the reasons we're working on SUM OG Utilities... but until that's done, I've created this website for people to upload their mods: http://ogmods.antonriehl.com and I'll host it for you there. (Original Thread).

Can't wait to see more!



EDIT:

So, I figured out what was wrong with my computer in terms of crashing. That packaging that you distributed is still not set up right though... (as I mentioned before, the void/test thing...)

I have added it to the menu mod though, but I did change some things. I moved your custom files into Custom/PatSilverFox/void/Textures/... etc and updated the xml file to match. This will be the future standard location to release custom content, and we're trying to get people used to using that structure now.

I still don't have anyone able to confirm that this level loads flawlessly, so please do let me know if you have issues...


EDIT 2:

So, something is still not working correctly... I can't get other people to install it and have it work. The download still works, so if you update the menu mod, you still get this level, but I commented it out of the actual interface, so people can't click on it... If you install from the menu mod, type void.xml into the box and hit load level, and please let me know any errors you get...

Did you edit the void.xml to accommodate the new file locations?

Edit: looks like you did, but I would have changed the file location from test to void but I had the same error while I made the level, very weird error.

Running it through the menu mod... Yeah there was an error D: same one I got when I attempted to switch file location names, although that might not be the reason why.

I would really love to play your map. But, i have similar (same?) problems as Anton has. However, i am programming noob, therefore not able to fix it myself. Would you be so kind to fix it, so everyone could enjoy your map? :D

We're working on it right now! I can tell you the errors you just had were resolved if you use the version from the menu mod. However, we're still working on a much larger underlying issue...

Is there any update on a fix for this map? I've been going through the user-created maps today and this one won't work for me.
