[MAP] Cats' Pass

Post by t2vanden » Sun Feb 26, 2012 5:00 pm

Here we go, it's my second map to date. This one is a parkour style map, with a focus on reaching the top of a certain tower. I tried hard to keep everything looking rather like buildings and scaffolding where I could, but that doesn't mean it's not free of some pretty intense and challenging parts. (I dare anyone to get through the boarded up hole without knocking yourself out!) It's not incredibly long, but it's difficult enough so it should stay entertaining for a while. Enjoy!

Another great level! Already updated in the menu mod. :) I'll definitely keep adding them as people keep making them! At this pace we'll reach 70 maps soon! (And once you can all upload directly into the menu, via SUM OG Utilities, this will be so much less work for me! I love it though!)

Not yet... there were a lot of new maps today, and I'm still trying to get them all working... But I'll beat it soon!

There were? Awesome. I can't wait to play all the new maps once they're added to the menu mod. Personally I enjoy a lot of the tower type parkour maps myself.

Just beat it. Very fun! :) I don't know if it's intentional or not... but there's definitely a short cut to the top... Or at least a way to skip a large portion of the map.

But yes, I think these kinds of levels are a lot of fun!

From the base of the tower, right? Yeah I added that in last minute, and I meant for it to be impossible to climb up. Whoops, I guess I got that wrong! :P But the general idea of the map is still in tact. My favorite part has got to be flipping through the hole in the tower.

I wanna say how much I love this map's design. The slender buildings are at the same time familiar but really alien, like a cross between a cat's scratching post and a human flat.

The long jump is great too, but you really don't need to flip. In fact, flipping there breaks my spine most of the time!

Hey, I just got overgrowth the other day and immediately installed this map. I got it working and am able to play it fine but the sky looks like a green and black checkerboard pattern. The first time i loaded the map up i got a message something like: "Unable to find custom sky texture. loading default" or something like that. I also have the problem with the map 4parkour. I haven't installed any other maps for this reason. Any help you could give for this would be much appreciated.

P.S. Sorry for such a long post.

Your issue is that you don't have the skyboxes installed on your computer. There are some threads where you can get them, but the "easiest" way to install them (and all the custom maps) is to use SUMLauncher. Once you have it, you should no longer have issues with the skies looking that way.

One thing to note, once you do install the skyboxes, you will need to clear the cache for Overgrowth, so that it re-calculates the sky. If you use the SUMLauncher method above, you can choose the file menu, and go to "Delete Local Files" and then choose to delete the cache.

The easiest way is to install SUMLauncher, then go into the "Community Content Browser". From there you can download and install over 200 maps, and they will show up on the main screen of the game for you.
