[Release]The Three Masters

This is my first level released for Overgrowth.

After some thought, I realised the one thing missing from Overgrowth is a map that requires skill without throwing swarms at the player. I wanted to create a map that would force the player to think and move quickly, without causing lag with excessive enemies and puzzles. I also wanted to ensure variety.

And thus The Three Masters was born.
Throughout time, there have been three great warriors. These warriors have never been defeated and have taken many cities. They boast the skill to take down armies with ease.
But now, after several years, the day has come in which no army opposes them anymore and now they must find a new challenge. Only one may be The Ultimate Master Of The Art. Let the battles begin!
[+] Player
The Slasher
The Slasher is a fast moving warrior. Wielding twin knives, The Slasher has defeated thousands of enemies throughout his life. He may be lacking in strength, but his extreme agility and his skill in battle have gained him many victories. Now the day has come to test agility against strength.
[+] The Guardian
The Guardian
The Guardian is a well trained but fairly slow warrior. Having trained with the monks, The Guardian fights unarmed, but still boasts the skill to take down spear-armed armies single-handedly. His attacks are swift and strong. Take care against this warrior.
[+] The Behemoth
The Behemoth
The Behemoth is a slow moving but strong warrior. Wielding a powerful hammer, The Behemoth fights with brute strength and fortitude. He may be slow, but take care. His skin is tough and his attacks are fiercer than rockslides. Do not understimate him for his slow moving attacks.
This may require having downloaded either the Menu Mod or just Spear Fight. This map used Spear Fight as an origin. Everything should still theoretically work without it though as I changed everything in the map.
Oh and Anton, if you wish to add this to the Menu Mod, go ahead. :)
If you need a pic, either take one yourself, or just ask, and I'll work on it.

Future Update Plans:
Add in a ton of detail objects. Worried about this due to lag.
Add in two more enemies with their own stats and rename this mod to 'The Five Masters'. May go even further.
Create PvP variants of the mod.
Create a location variant, with the same ideas in a totally different area with puzzles. Majorly worried about this due to lag.

Anyway, gonna post images in a while. It'll probably still look better in-game though because I've annoyingly turned graphics settings down to reduce lag.

I shuld point out that you should add a line of code into your level.xml file
After

Code: Select all

<ColorMap>Data/Textures/Terrain/grass_beach/grass_beach_c.tga</ColorMap>
make new line and add there this line and save

Code: Select all

<WeightMap>Data/Textures/Terrain/grass_beach/grass_beach_hm.png_22_grass_beach_weights.png</WeightMap>
Now upload this again so the ground textures (detail textures or ground textures) look OK for us to.

Ah, thanks. Done so and it actually looks better for me.

Oh and I decided to tolerate the insane lag and turn my settings all the way up for the sake of screenies. Unfortunately I forgot about the UI clutter. -.-

Use F7, it removes the UI and saves your screenies in Overgrowth/Screenshots

Ah thanks, I'll remember that for next time.

Posted the screenshots anyway though.

Please note: Sky issue not included in the mod. Cause during screenshot-taking: Lag. It's fine for me while my settings are lowered. ;)

ah u beat me to it, i was working on the same kind of map, but my map has 3 tribes and each tribe has a leader u have to defeat, i will still finish it though.

Really? It's as if these ideas are in some kind of modding vortex and they appear at random intervals and everyone just sees them in their mind at the same time! Djemp came up with a similar kind of map to this, except that his maps are PvP based.

E: Re-uploaded the map with last's suggestion.

E2:
Currently setting up a major variant with a much more interesting storyline. It should make the level more interesting and slower paced. It should also force you to move quickly whereas before you could take as much time as you wished.
This variant will be seperate from the original version however.

I'll be setting up even more variants in the future. :)

Oh and I realised you can set 3 or more actors as player characters. Does this mean I can set up PvPvPvP or further? Or is there a controller limit?

E3: *Facepalm* The game just crashed. I hope I saved recently. I can't even remember -.-

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I did update this level in the menu mod. I might need to update the version in the mod... make sure you back up your files! If you do load the menu mod, can you check if it is the newest version?

I'll check the level in a while. Been playing too much Portal :P

And I'll try to finish my variant. Then I'm gonna play some more Portal and then I might work on another level for OG. Hmm...
