[Map] Rainbow Shards - WIP

Post by Anton » Tue Jul 24, 2012 1:10 pm

So, I've finally decided that I should let you guys have my WIP map called Rainbow Shards. It's an exploration map only currently. I'm going to try to update it a little bit every day for a while, and hopefully I'll get further along... It's just hard for me to find time... so we'll see...

It's also in the menu mod, for people who like to load maps that way.

Some things to note are, there are always two pathways to get from color to color, a low road and a high road. You should never feel "punished" for losing the high road, as the low road will also get you to your destination.
Also, there is currently no spawn point, so you will automatically start by dying... So press X to wake yourself up. ALSO, if you go into editor mode (press 9 or esc) and go to a new location, then go back into rabbot mode (press 8 or click on rabbot) that will be a "temporary" spawn point, and pressing L will take you back to that spot. This level has some difficult parkour, and that is one good way to retry those sections.

Please let me know what you think, and hopefully I'll be pushing more updates soon!

Awesome map to pounce around in.
Funny thing, I was just listening to Mario Kart 64 "Rainbow Road" a few hours ago..

you should make the scenery cretes colored white so people know it's not part of the map.

I'm still filling it all in (hence the WIP...) so all the colors that aren't connected yet will eventually be connected... The idea will be that it fill flow all the way across the spectrum. If you look at the tops of each pillar there is a hotspot marking the color that will be the high point of that color. :) (There are some white colored crete portions that are just the full range of unused crete that are there to grab from.)

Good to see that you released this to the public although its not done yet, Making a big map can really take some time. Mine are taking forever too but I think if you take your time it will be well worth it.
