[Map] Populated Eroded Plateau

Post by Constance » Sat Jan 19, 2013 2:20 pm

I got bored, so I made a populated version of the old plataeu. All guards are armed and their posts are where they would most realistically be. Every area is accessible (accessible meaning not having to jump 5 feet in the air to reach) via stairs. You can also use this to screw around and spawn 5 wolves in the middle of the map, and watch as the innocent rabbit civilians get slaughtered as the guards try to fight back.

It took a while making this map, it kept on crashing, and making every area accessible meant having to go through the whole place.

Recommended to play on 195 because of the large amounts of NPC's.

195 is not out yet, but there is a pre-build available for testing (as linked above). We don't know the specific changes yet, but the main things all revolve around the refactoring of old code, and using a new build system to keep all versions of the game in parity easier (as in, mac/linux/win).

Ya, there's tons of NPCs there. I think I'll wait to try it until I can get a195. Looks cool though, and I'm really excited to see that many NPCs on a single map. Hopefully this will open the floodgates for more maps like it.

You can replace the eroded plateau map I made with a map in the Custom folders, some level in the front like the deathly forrest.

Just wondering, how am I supposed to play this when I can't type in anything in the custom level.xml space in the main menu?

Simple. Learn how to add a level into the main menu like some of us can.
Hint: You need to edit Menu.html in Data/UI/mainmenu folder.
And i believe that Anton or i have written something about this into this forum, maybe even a tutorial.

thanks I got it to show in the menu but the level crashes when I try and play it. People are having the same problem with levels crashing so I just will have to wait.

Timbles, I'm having some issues putting this map into SUMLauncher... maps with Item Connections still instantly crash for me in this alpha (a198). Do you want me to put it in without those connections, or wait and see if the next alpha fixes the issue?

Get rid of the connections, it's nothing essential.
