[Weapon] Cult Axe Update[2/24/14]
[Weapon] Cult Axe Update[2/24/14]
this is my first weapon project made in 3D-Coat, hope you guys like it.
please leave any input that would help improve my model and or textures.
The reason it is called a "Cult Axe" is because I made this weapon for enemy group in a custom map I am working on, I will post more about that map when I am closer to finishing it.
Edit 2/24/14: new texture.

Re: [Weapon] Cult Axe
It kind of looks like the handle might be wrapped in leather, but it isn't.
Still, it's nice.

I don't know what mean by the first statement? the texture is ment to give the Handel a cloth or leather look, so what do mean by looks like it is covered but it's not?NecroBite wrote:It kind of looks like the handle might be wrapped in leather, but it isn't.

Re: [Weapon] Cult Axe
The images are not displaying for me because they are in .tiff format. Try saving and posting them in .png or something like that.

EDIT: okay uploaded the pics as jpg files, let me know if it works now or not.

It's hard to tell where one material begins, and where another ends. The cloth and the wood are very similar in color and in light value. If you made the wood darker, the cloth would stand out better. Now they kinda blend together.

thanks for the input, I will work on the blending problem and post new pics when progress is madeEndoperez wrote:It's hard to tell where one material begins, and where another ends. Yes, it is a bit better.
Re: [Weapon] Cult Axe
endo i changed somethings on the texture, what do you think of it?
Re: [Weapon] Cult Axe
The new rope looks better. I can't spot any other new changes, but it is a lot better than the ones on the first post. Could you make the part that goes through the axe blade look like the same wooden part as the main handle? I'm not sure what it's supposed to be. A metal hood over the handle? Glue? I have no idea.
There is one mistake that might be troublesome to fix for this, but is worth remembering for future work... The scale of the textures seems wrong. How long is the space between two pieces of strings? 1 mm? How many strings can you see in the texture on the holes meant for fingers? Not enough to make the grip wide enough to actually hold fingers.
The cloth under the strings, on the other hand, seems much bigger. The wooden handle and the axe are in different scales, again - I can't make myself believe they're all the same size. You should scale the photographs so that the things they represent more or less match in their scale.

how does the cap on the top of the axe head that keeps the axe on the handle look now?Endoperez wrote: Could you make the part that goes through the axe blade look like the same wooden part as the main handle? I'm not sure what it's supposed to be. A metal hood over the handle? Glue? I have no idea.
