MAP JAM (POLL - Lasts for 7 days)

Post by iDubbbz » Wed May 28, 2014 10:04 pm

Hey all!! ichubbbz here:

It's over! and you can vote on which map you liked the best. I know there weren't many...so this decision should be easier. :P You can vote twice, and it lasts for 7 days.

The map jam will take place on June 13 - 16. I've narrowed down the theme to: caves, history, and floating cities, using your suggestions. There are no strict start/end times.

I'll randomly select the theme at the start of the jam. THE THEME IS FLOATING CITIES!!! Start working on your map, anytime from now till the 16th.

In this jam there are NO RULES. Use w/e scripts, objects, maps, you want. Obv just make sure you let us know and give us access to it when you upload it. :P

We'll do voting like we did last time to determine the winner. I'm not giving out a game this time because I'm broke. Winner just gets to be winner. 8) 8)

QUESTION? COMMENT? PUT IT BELOW AND I'LL TRY TO ANSWER IT

Sounds like fun! I really don't know if I am good enough at map creation yet though for such a venture. I will be watching what you guys put out though!

Lets see if I will be as half assed as I was the last time. And see if my motivation gets the best of me. None the less I'm in.

As far as the latest alpha is concerned, do what you can. My Overgrowth is going to look visually bizarre given the pink glow and buggy texture detail options. But it could be cool. I'll tweet out the theme and post the theme here 6/13.

Here is my level: Floating Gods
Image

With flying stones & story. Enjoy. I wrote the level script myself. It is not perfect, but at least it works ;)

Requirements:

Code: Select all

Markuss - Old China (big thanks for the great models)
SteelRaven7 - Launcher; Wipeout Trigger
Thomason1005 - Slow Mo
It is based on "Painted Desert" by Aubrey.

Disable "Baked Shadows" if possible. This will cause more lag, but looks nicer. If it lags too much for you enable it again. Moving objects won't have a shadow then though. You can also try deleting enemies.

Edit 1: Updated the level (script) to play background music.
Edit 2: Added preview image.

So this is a small story me and my brother thought up for why the land floats.

Basically, the story is about a cat who travels to a floating city held up by magnetic forces. However, the city is in peril because the dogs plan to mine the raw magnetic materials that hold the city up. Without the magnetic materials, the city will fall and everyone will die. So the locals ask the cat (that's you) to go and eliminate the dogs so they won't bother the village anymore.

I Included a fix for the cat scabbard and made some edits to the rapier to act more like the one handed dog sword.
