Request an animation
Hey.
As some now know, I am making a series of animations. However, I am getting bored of looking at my own animation ideas written down on a scrap piece of paper, so, I am now asking for new ideas.
Seeing as I'm free from when this is posted until 2 and a half hours after this is posted, its likely that this will be first come first serve, although, any animations that I don't get done in the time will still (probably) be made, of course, that is unless this post gets over 10,000 replies... Which reading this now is highly unlikely.
the animations on the scrap of paper are as follow:
leg cannon counters
swimming, sliding and vaulting
idle overlays
door, trapdoor activations
levers, buttons and valve activations
bow/ crossbow animations
duel wield anims
finisher anims (but requesting ideas)
two handed stances
cave entrance activations
interactive animations (although I forgot what I meant by it)
aware anims (noticing a player and searching)
holding torches
wolf attacks and counter moves
taunts?
wading through shallow water
walking up and down hills/stairs (to avoid the weird, lower region wiggle glitch...)
climbing ladders
different crouch anims (requesting others)
dialogue anims (active anims that would work during a dialogue)
insta kill anim (taking the quicker but louder place of a chokehold)
falling anims
sheathing for all weapons (including custom)
climbing anims (scaling walls, hanging off thin ledges)
command anims (for followers)
aerial attacks
wall cover and takedowns
choke counters
combat choke (an attempt at a chokehold during combat, however, easier to evade and gain advantage)
combat stance for all weapons (including custom)
custom human anims?
stealth stab
Unarmed chokehold takedown
double takedown
double blocking (two opponents, two swords?)
mounts?
some generally cool poses (for cinematic screenshots)
different race and class moves
swinging anims
animations to drive other modders (e.g. hidden blade anims, bows(already done))
There are all the animations I am going to be working on. So preferably don't put one of them as your idea below (apart from the ones I am asking for ideas on.
Can't wait to see what you come up with

Re: Request an animation
How long have you been animating in Blender?

This is almost my favorite typo ever: DUEL WELD!halzoid wrote:

Sorry!
If you need reference videos for specific videos, I might be able to find you something. A few years back I scoured YouTube for martial arts reference videos. Dual wielding two rapiers (the case of rapiers) is very different from two sticks or swords (eskrima), sword and dagger styles have seemingly more in common with sword and buckler than with, say, twin dagger styles...
Re: Request an animation

this was the first thing that came to mind when you said that^ although, I'm not quite sure what you mean by the elbow partrodeje25 wrote:this tiger crouch thingie would be cool..... forgot he name..... you know you're on the ground pulling yourself forward with your elbows.
Re: Request an animation
There's some sort of a forward-jump that transforms into a forwards roll, that is sometimes called a tiger jump/hop/roll. Maybe he means that?
Your animations are pretty good for having only started out 9 months ago!

so does that mean that 3-weeks-of-knowing-what-I'm-doing's progress is incredible... JK.halzoid wrote:9 months looking at a rabbit twitching on-screen thinking, what the f*** am I supposed to do with this thing!?
I only just worked out that the yellow bars in the 'timeline thingy' meant keyframes 4 weeks ago
although I do feel I am getting better with blender and making animations more lifelike.
But thanks for the support!

Re: Request an animation
This stuff is really super complicated. A year is nothing.
Let's put it this way - there are people who have been making games for years but can't animate. And people who have been using Blender professionally for years, but have never animated a character.
I do have some bad news for you though - using the program is the EASY part. Animation is the hard part. How do you make a character kick? How do you do that while making sure he keeps his balance? That and his ears follow his head as it balances on his spine? That and his pose is as awesome as possible while still looking doable? That while exaggerating it? And conveying emotions, acting out the character's personality, mood...
For games, we only need some of the first layers, but if you go down the rabbit hole, you'll discover that there's no bottom to it at all! It just keeps going.
Animation is awesome though. You know the saying, "he wrote the book on it"? Well, there were two of them that wrotethe book on animation, and the other one died 2008. He was born before the first character animation was made in February 1914. 100 years... It's so awesome.

oh, and don't worry, I got the balance on point
Re: Request an animation
That's about where I am, too. Balance and swinging motions / secondary animation. I have a friend who spent 6 months animating, hearing him talk is such an eye-opening experience. He's talking about stuff like the swinging of a flying creature's tail changing its center of mass, so you have to pull it sideways like this, because pixels don't have weight and you have to put it in yourself.halzoid wrote:Great punEndoperez wrote:but if you go down the rabbit hole,

And then there's guys who animated for 60 years... Yeah!
