Press Check

Post by singlespace » Tue Sep 11, 2012 1:05 am

Would it be possible to add a press check to the game?

When just preparing the Glock 17 or 1911, I usually end up ejecting a round because I'm not sure whether there is a round chambered or not.

You can, it's in the advanced controls :
Hold T, then press R, then release T.

It allows you to check if you have a round in the chamber without ejecting it.

(It doesn't work 100%, sometimes it ejects the round, maybe I'm doing it wrong)

I am well aware of that, but it doesn't work at all like a press check, since it racks the slide and locks it. By sometimes, you probably mean almost every single time it ejects a round. A press check would have pretty much no chance of ejecting a round and doesn't lock the slide open.

As stated, if you HOLD T and then HOLD R, the slide will lock back with NO rounds ejected. Then you just press T to release the slide lock.

Were looking for a reliable way to check the chamber. Even if done correctly, it still ejects the bullet most of the time.

I've been playing around with it more and I'm pretty sure there's a serious bug somewhere. Sometimes I'll empty an entire mag just doing the prescribed method, other times not even a single round will be ejected after doing the exact same thing two dozen times.

I agree, though I wouldn't call it a "serious" bug. I press check properly, and yet sometimes a round ejects and sometimes it doesn't.

I gotta say, I never accidentally ejected a bullet when checking the chamber, unless I mistakenly press R slightly before T, but never has it happened otherwise.

I have no problems with this either. By holding the slide lock key first, then holding the pull back slide key and releasing both no round ever ejects, and then pressing the slide lock again to release the slide with the round chambered. A round will eject if you hold the [pull back slide] key first, before the [slide lock] key, but it always works with me when using the first method.

It's a problem with Unity, you either have it or you don't. For me it ejects around 40% of the time.

40% sounds about right for me too.
