Maybe, although I feel like the revolver has more single shot kills than the 1911 (and I just grabbed my last tape with the revolver... but died before it finished...
)
To be honest, I find the S&W Model 10 (Revolver) does less damage than either M1911A1 or the Glock 17/18 conversion. I mean, it does shoot .38 Special if memory serves, so it is in fact weaker than 9mm, which would of course make it weaker than .45 ACP. I find the Glock's 9mm and M1911A1's .45 ACP to be comparable when you're making shots count; they can both easily take enemies down with one well-placed round, though I feel the M1911A1 does so a LITTLE bit more reliably. Anyways, as for my experience with the ending:
I used the M1911A1, and I actually record my stats every time I play (Starting mags, starting ammo, rounds fired, rounds found, rounds in mags, turrets/fliers killed (That's what I call em anyways), tapes found, etc. So here's what I had at the end of my first win:
Apr 5, 2014: M1911A1, 3 mags (7+1, 7, 7, 3 loose), shot 74/99 rounds, 21 turrets, 20 fliers 11/11 TAPES!!! (Start with 26 .45s, nice!)
Yeah, a bit OCD perhaps, a lot of pausing to go and add/subtract ammo as well as enemies in the list, but I find it fun to track my progress and performance. When I found the 11th tape, I got to cover and listened, practically giddy that I FINALLY beat it, because it took me months. Seeing the credits was definitely pretty interesting, I took screen caps of them all, and as said above, the 'Click Anywhere to be Awakened' was very cool, and of course there was a deep sense of accomplishment. I've since beaten it with all 3 firearms, as well as the 6 extra firearms on Josh's mod. Sometimes I actually found 12 tapes!
Oh, also, I find when I beat the game with Josh's mod, the screen just goes white and freezes so I have to close it, but it still fades to white so you know you won. So I suggest beating the game in vanilla first before installing any mods. I DEFINITELY suggest Josh's though, it added dozens more hours of gameplay for me, to be sure!
