so i've tried opening the project in both unity 3x and 4, but i seem to only be able to import the asset folder.

im relatively new to unity though, I've only been into designing, modeling and texturing the last 2 years. so it might be something really simple i'm missing.

if i'd manage to open the project correctly, i'd probably start making some different maps. i could also gladly make some other weapons/enemies, although it would need programming (where my amounts of knowledge is like 0.001%)

I'm super eager to work on evolving this game, because i simply love the mechanics. the concept has so much potential,

i'll continue trying to open it correctly, hah |:')

an ar would make the game easier.....keep it to pistols to retain the tension of gameplay but some new pistols with slightly different mechanics would be interesting.

I would more than willing to throw more money at this project if it meant more addons. I know wolfire isn't planning any more work on it, I just have to express my passion for the project. It's so unique, and what so many people were waiting for.

There's an easy fix for your frame issues.

What I did to solve it, was by downloading the free version of Unity 4, (the engine used to make the game) and recompiling it. It's rather simple to do, actually. It also allows you to modify the game in any way you like.

I'm not sure if this solution has been posted already, and I'm sure it has, but here you are.

Maybe you could mod it so that individual rooms have a random color palette they can use? Sometimes you get two randomly generated map chunklets that are completely identical, and side by side. This destroys my sense of direction. If the rooms were different colors, I'd have an easier time not getting so lost.

Also, I feel like the game would benefit from a blind enemy type that homes in on you based on audio cues. Maybe a quadrupedal body type similar to a canine. It would need some sort of unique audio cue to the player though, to indicate when it was prudent to begin sneaking around. Really I just think the game needs more enemies that are mobile, but maybe not so mobile as the Taserbots... *shudder*

If not an ar (which i think would be a bit OP) than maybe a rifle? (winchester 73 FTW)

i don't know much about code and this may seem like a very ambitious request but being limited to those three pistols is a little bit repetitive. Someone, anyone! please make more weapons just to make this awesome concept reach it's full potential and make the gameplay a bit juicier. I don't know how hard it is to do this but i can imagine it's pretty difficult, as people are saying how hard it is to read the code because of how messy it is. I was thinking along the lines of shotguns, snipers and maybe assault rifles:

shotguns could have the classic single shell reload, where the player would insert the shells themselves. when they fire they would have to manually pump the shotgun (same button as pulling back the slide on the pistols) and maybe because there are so many bullets in a shell, they would take for example two to break a critical component of an enemy, just to balance it out a bit. shotguns could be used as a more run and gun weapon as you can destroy an enemy at close range, but be useless at longer ranges.

snipers also have to be manually bolted and they could have a scope, which would be good for targeting those weak spots accurately, even at long range. they would be quite useless when a tazer bot comes flying at you or at close range because you don't have the time to scope in and hit, let alone reload.

assault rifles might be a little over powered as they are very accurate and have tonnes of ammo, but otherwise they work pretty much the same as the full auto glock.

obviously you would need different ammo types. ammo spawns could maybe only contain the ammo type that your weapon allows.

again, this is a very ambitious request but it would be so awesome if someone could do that!

You do realize that's exactly what you're saying, right? Did you even take a moment to think about the story and why the available guns are there? Have you even taken any time to learn the story?
Also, I might add, there is a person working on this sort of thing here

Inside the 7dfps-master folder you must open the UnityProject folder as the project, not 7dfps-master. I'm not exactly sure why they have that layout but the one you're opening just contains some assets, no scenes.

Is it possible to make it so robots are required to spawn a set distance away from other robots? I always face the trouble of running into like 3 of them, wasting all my ammo on 2, and getting killed.

But that's the beauty of Receiver!
If it wasn't like that, getting the tapes'd be a breeze.
