I sent an e-mail to Wolfire as they asked in the Readme, and I'm waiting for a reply back.
In my case, I have a patch I'd like to submit to Github to fix the "floating shell" problem as Katemonster reported here (and others have done elsewhere):
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=16833&start=30#p178359
Does their requirement apply there as well, or does it only apply to distribution elsewhere?
Terms of the source code license
Re: Terms of the source code license
I'm not sure what you mean by submit to Github, I don't know how it works exactly, but if you can just upload a commit or whatever to Davids repository then there are no problems. I emailed them a month ago about distributing my mod and got no response, so I think I was reading to deeply into that disclaimer before. I think the only time there will be an issue is if you re-upload the whole project, any assets, full scripts or code snippets somewhere else, or use the assets in your own project.
Re: Terms of the source code license
The problem is that "no response" doesn't imply permission; I agree with your interpretation of the license, but if we're wrong then I'd be violating the terms of the license.
Re: Terms of the source code license
David got back to me:
So I'll be submitting my patch to GitHub shortly. That should be fine, thanks! The license is just meant to discourage users from just recompiling the game and submitting it to Steam as their own, and similar activities.

Oh awesome!
