I've been working on a new unity game for about 6months now.
One of the design elements I really wanted it to have was procedural weapon handling.
So far I've only set things up for one of the weapons, a bolt-action rifle.
Here's a video

Vids like this make me wish I wasn't permadepressed so that I could actually get something done. Looks freaking awesome though. Keep us updated, it's great so far.

The shaders in the video actually go together absolutely great with the colors and aesthetics. The game animation could do with a little bit less clipping, but otherwise it looks like it handles like a charm.
How much are you gonna be working on it? Is there gonna be any primary focus to the game (stealth, action, etc)?

Here's an update on my progress with this game, I've added pistols and knives.
I've also added various AI enemies, mining, base building, various vehicles etc.
You asked what the focus of the game is, that's something I'm still trying to nail down.
Right now I think the games focus is mostly on survival with the secondary focus being on clan politics and strategy.
looks better now and has some interesting ideas
but is it 3rd person survival now? wouldnt have thought this was inspired by receiver

Receiver is primarily a proof of concept on detailed weapon mechanics. They pretty heavily affect the gameplay and it's not surprising that it could inspire lots of different ideas. I'm a sci-fi buff, so I've been trying to work on a sci-fi game inspired by the same mechanic.
