Receiver melee challenge
Receiver melee challenge
After playing (and sucking at) Receiver for a while, I decided to challenge myself.
Instead of playing normally, I decided to see if I could beat it without firing a single shot.
I couldn't, but I recorded my gameplay in the hope that future generations could benefit from my research and use it to school me on how to do the job right.

Re: Receiver melee challenge
Is this possible? You can't "avoid" the fire from the turrets by just running, can you? Certainly sounds like an interesting challenge if you want to make the game even harder!
Re: Receiver melee challenge
You actually totally can. As long as you're not sprinting directly into the turrets, the turrets' lines of fire will lag behind you.
You can stand inside turrets to evade detection, too.

My attempt...
I tried this for about 5 minutes when I had free time, got 4 tapes, but paused the audio with 'X', so it didn't class as absorbing them (in my mind it still counts xD). eventually got taken down by a hover drone while trying to run past them, turns out, they definitely move faster than you can run...

With pretty much both bots, you shouldn't run straight forwards.halzoid wrote:I tried this for about 5 minutes when I had free time, got 4 tapes, but paused the audio with 'X', so it didn't class as absorbing them (in my mind it still counts xD). eventually got taken down by a hover drone while trying to run past them, turns out, they definitely move faster than you can run...
More then anything, evading a hoverbot is just a game of bullfighting, and just as dangerous.
If worst comes to worst, you can at the very least just crouch. Then they might go over your head, and if you're lucky, bump on a wall and die or something.

Re: My attempt...
Yup. Sometimes the mesh generation can lag the game and the hoverbots are sent to the ground at like, 60 MPH and they just die.halzoid wrote:They can do that?!Timbles wrote:bump on a wall and die or something.
Re: Receiver melee challenge
If you zig-zag whilst running you can dodge the flying death bots if you're lucky. I've done this in a few hectic ammoless occasions.
