Re: Soul of Steel
SoS is dead. it was made using the lugaru engine and was never completed, if I remember correctly the reason for this is because David got bored with robots. there's no chance that they'll make this version for windows, though there is a chance in the future, if you've seen any of the concept art, that there will be a remake.

Hush, robots are awesome.

Not as awesome as anthros, :pGrayswandir wrote:Hush, robots are awesome.
I for one would really like to see Wolfire make Soul of Steel after Overgrowth. There are so many neat things they could do with it.
For example they could include extensive elements of self-customization. A robotic protagonist could swap out body parts as required. Do you go for the suction feet that allow you to climb walls, or the padded ones that make you silent? After turning a hostile robot into junk, you could cut out those nice night-vision oculars of his and put them to use. Need some extra protection? Grab some scrap metal and weld it on as an extra layer of improvised armour. Maybe you could even acquire a Terminator-style 'skin suit' that would allow you pass as human, but also restrict you to a human-sized chassis.
A robot-centric game also gives rise to some interesting story line possibilities. Perhaps the protagonist has been tasked with carrying out the last wishes of its designer. Or they could go with the good old AI-gains-sentience angle. Perhaps the protagonist has found itself scheduled for the scrapyard and decides to object to this.

Umm... yeah, anyway... I think SoS could be a good game.
