I'm including the username in the description too.
And since we do have the ability to do so, I'm also going to start using the "User's notes" to help find the various spammers.

I've got a question about the User's Notes moderation tool: what is supposed to be its correct use?
I'm currently adding a note to every spammer that I block, so as to further help the admins identify and track spammers that were stopped when they weren't online, but is it supposed to be used like this or am I mis-using it and should stop?

So the user note seems to be something that shows up if we search for the user, but I think really just having the username in the notes when you block the message will be easier to use. What you are doing doesn't hurt, but it doesn't really help us find people faster (as far as I can tell...)

I think ultimately it will be best if we're able to see the same username posting more than once.

Is our adding the usernames of who posted the spam to the disapproval reason helping at all?

I kept seeing users that I disapproved trying to post over and over, so I'm not bothering disapproving threads anymore. I'm limiting myself to check if there are any posts worthy of being approved, and occasionally post user notes on the various spammer accounts.

Well, the situation is not improving. I'm not going to tell what some of the spam thread wants to advertise to avoid anyone searching for said materials ending up on this forum. Suffice to say I have not disapproved* them so that an Admin can properly ban them and their IP range forever and that the only idea of what search hits they are trying to generate sickens me. :o

*but I have added user notes to make them easier to track.

That is certainly some very illegal content they're trying to pedal there going by the topics.

I've made some changes over the last few days that seem to have been mostly effective at preventing spam users from registering. The spam activity currently being seen is a result of users who registered before these changes were made; if you post the usernames here I will take care of them.

I am currently working on a way to get rid of the large amount of spam users who registered without deleting any legitimate users.

It seems to have been very effective indeed, nice job!
Myself, and I'm sure the rest of the Spam Police Force aswell, will help out in the banning of said unwanted spammers completely, as we always have.

Wilco!

Ornaskorard: bunch of search words. Disapproved two of his (identical) threads.

affitsAffox: tried to start a thread with the OP comprised only of links to various websites with no context whatsoever.

Inonorobogfer: tried to start a thread that said something about "being almost there" without any context, so it was disapproved to be safe. Thread message was included fully in the "Reason to Disapprove" section to allow a mod to double check it.

Aleksey - tried to post twice in this very thread (and in two other).
I'd say "moron of the week award" should go to him.

usebrasquargo - pornographic spam. Business as usual. Two threads.

This would be pre-emptive, but I'd recommend keeping an eye out for user DFWilliam: according to googletranslate he has various (russian) spammy messages in his user profile. Hasn't done anything yet that I know of, however.
