Yeah, you can make your own models for the game. You won't be able to import your models into the game though. The model format is unknown, even to the original author (in a way). There is no way to transfer models into the Lugaru format for any person that has ever lived on this planet.

You could still try to refactor the format.

Yeah, it was sarcasm. Stop whining already  Sarcasm is about making people smile. I'm trying to laugh with you, not to make fun of you.

You can edit those models with text editors, but the results won't be good. The .solid format is an invention by David, he lost the software with which he made the models and doesn't know (or doesn't have the time to recall) how these models are structured.

You can try to refactor this format though and write a converter by yourself. The whole community is awaiting someone who has the time and interest to do this.

Sorry, I totally missed your point! I didn't realize you were talking about Black Shades. I don't know anything about it. You may call me a total idiot now

The .solid format is used for BlackShades also, you won't be able to get
custom models into it :(

The Black Shades source code is available from http://icculus.org/blackshades/ ; so it should be possible to find the model format or do anything else you would like to do with it.
