Honestly, I hope not. Civilians just get in the way, use processor power and remind me of GTA.

As for alleyways - I don't mean to simply be contradictory here - but I prefer the idea of more organic, almost Eastern-type villages, like, well, in the picture; I don't want the rabbits to be anthropomorphised too much. That's just one man's opinion, though.

There will be a variety of styles. Different races will have dramatically different villages.

that "dramatically" doesn't really sit well with me. i think they should have subtle differences, not "dramatic" differences.

Rabbits live underground, hobbit style, for instance. Clearly a desert trader town is going to be dramatically different from a foresty rabbit village. Why is that bad?

I would think anthropomorphic rabbits and wolves would live very differently...

ehhh, idk w/e.

I just thought that it would be easier for the player to see a familiar basic framework of the town, like knowing how to climb certain buildings, instead of having to learn new skills for every town you go to.

then again, more variety increases a games re-playability...

I don't really know what I was thinking when I said that, might as well disregard it.

That's a pretty picture :P

I almost believed it was an ingame screenshot.

Looks great, I like the style, and a similar city to that would be awesome.
Keep up the good work! :D

Holy crap, that concept is amazing. Huge props to you guys. Also, I hope that if cities really look like that in-game, you can interact with them properly, and they aren't just objects in the game that your character collides with.

Haha
I imagine David reading this and thinking "Crap! Crap! They want to be able to INTERACT with the city? I'm going to have to scrap my entire city-collision code!"

Next thing you know we'll be worrying that all the objects are actually just cubes that LOOK like rabbits and wolves and stuff. :P

I'm not too worried. I challenge you to name any feature in Lugaru that does not have gameplay applications ;)

Okay, apart from the hawk.

Curse all that time spent flying after that hawk. Still, you have to love the little guy. Maybe Turner could have a pet hawk? Maybe Turner could have a pet that could aid him in his travels, or befriend a misunderstood badger?

I'm missing something here... can you do something with the hawk(s)?

No, the point was that the hawk is pretty much the only thing in Lugaru you can't interact with in any way. It just circles in the sky.
