Could someone explain MountNBlade to me? There was nothing on Wikipedia, and a vague reference to it on Google, but apparently it's an RPG; any more to it than that?

I deduce that MountNBlade is short for "Mount & Blade", which can be found here,

Well you started it! I was just giving you a taste of your own medicine. Ayuh, and pointing out how pointless it is to be correcting someone else's grammar on the forums. :P

And hey, at least I HAVE a title! Whapow! Take THAT! I bet you're hurting now!

LOL.

But yeah, we'll just put our skis in our magic backpack, am I right? Oh no, wait, we'll have our helper rabbit who follows us around all over Lugaru carry the skis. Who was it who came up with that silly idea again?

You carry the skis on your back and can even use them as bunnysticks when your staff(bunnystick) breaks. These are the small skis (the kind that aren't 2 times your size)

Really? Doesn't sound like you. You usually say things that I think are sensible.

I was about to say "no offense", and then I realised I hate people who say "no offense". :?

What's unsensible about having someone carry around some of your items?

agreed. Fighters and rpgs usually don't mix.

There doesn't seem to be any real point to that when you could just make it so you carried the items around yourself. Would putting in a rabbit to follow you around and carry your items improve the game's fun factor? It wouldn't really, so why put it in?

What was that agreeing with?

Well, that's your opinion. David and I are not fans of the magic backpack philosophy. You will only be able to carry what you can carry. If you want to carry a crap load of stuff, you're going to need to get allies to help.

A lot of armchair game designers aren't aware of this, but believe it or not, having constraints on what your character can do may actually increase a game's "fun factor". Is it fun not being able to fly, for example? Yes it is. In the case of the magic backpack, by having to choose what you can carry instead of just picking up every piece of garbage you come across, you will probably have more fun. Of course, we will test both ways and empirically decide, so it's a moot point.

Yeah, I thought of that to begin with, but I wouldn't want to have to get a guy to lurch along behind me everywhere. I suppose that's just me. Actually, I might get lonely and decide to get a side-kick. I'd call him...Shazbot. He would help me to fight evil, and we would forge an unbreakable bond of friendship! Uhh, sorry.

Gagrin had already pointed out earlier how redicules it is to carry craploads of stuff with you. And I think everyone agreed (that was like two weeks ago). Now I don't see anything worng with having your friends help you out with the load, it's practical, and it's a fun idea. The original Lugaru already defined what inventory should be like, it should make sense to the player. There's no magic backpacks, so what wouldn't make sense is having to carry all your stuff with you. And you know, lugging around a 100 pound inventory isn't exactly fun either, especially if it's effecting things like your movement and traveling speed. And if you have buddies that are running around with just a sword in hand, I say, give them a backpack and help you with your load, that sounds more realistic and fun.

Hmm, it seems like I take way too long to write up a post... oh well.

If we do in fact go without pack followers, we'll need some other way of storing the heinously vast quantities of loot we come across. I think it was mentioned sometime in the past that players are given a house, but how to get things there if your pack is full? Will items disappear if you leave the area? If so, perhaps Turner can catch one of those ever present hawks and have it fly items around. :o
