Overgrowth on powerpc mac?

Post by camman47 » Sun Jul 08, 2012 5:10 am

I read on this post that overgrowth will run on powerpc, heres the link:
http://blog.wolfire.com/2008/12/overgro ... x-hotness/
So, i pre ordered and then downloaded the alpha and my imac g5 will not run it, it has the crossed out circle over the icon and will not run when i click it, it says it isnt supported on this architecture. So, will future alphas support powerpc? will the full game? If anyone knows anything, please tell me!

you wasted no time getting a refund, it's a shame because I'm sure this post would get better attention in the secret preorder forum. in any case I'm sure that the game will support powerpc.

The new Humble Bundle integration means there are preorderers who don't have preorderer tag on the forums.

I don't know how these kinds of questions should be solved now. Perhaps it'd be best if you contacted Wolfire directly. If you do get an answer, it'd be nice of you to post it here so others will see it too.

The issue with PowerPC is not Overgrowth, but one of it's components called Awesomium. If they don't add PowerPC support, it may never run on that hardware, I'm sorry to say.
In addition to that, all PowerPC Macs are pretty old at this point, and would have a hard time playing the game, at least before optimization happens. I hope it will eventually work on your hardware, but it might be quite a while, if ever.
