Ear Dismemberment

I thought of an idea while watching one of the old art asset overviews, ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGj1ivH33Ak )
It would be intereresting to be able to cut the ears off of enemy rabbits, it could be a sort of humiliation tactic. It could be like the medium between killing them and knocking them unconsious.
Any thoughts about this idea?

Maybe the ears of the rabbit slaves are cut off...
as a symbol for abasement...

Or to mark them as untouchables. Like the lowest class rank in Hinduism, or the lepers of the ancient world. That might be interesting. Definitely adds incentive to keep them out of the way of a sword.

I like the idea. A rabbit's ears could be like a dwarf's beard.
