Publicity

I've got two questions:

1) About how much publicity is Wolfire getting?

2) How can we give it more?

I dunno about the first, but I'm thinking for the second, we need some multiplayer games; it seems all the greatest and longest lasting games of all time are the multiplayer one .... it's just about the only reason N64 games are still fun 6 or 7 years later :o

Anyway, publicity for a software company never hurts ....

Wolfire is doing well if you ask me. The forums have over 80 people registered. That's good even if this site has been around for about 5 months.

But your right. It needs something.

I think it would REALLY help if some of the games got reviewed on a big site or in a magazine (especially MacAddict). If Lugaru is complete enough when David's done, it should get at least a solid in MacAddict. Hell, maybe the MacAddict forum users would carry over here after reading sweet reviews in the magazine 8)

It does need to get in MacAddict.

Perhaps, to get attention of macaddict etc. we should first promote wolfire on mac-community sites?

Indeed Flickta, make MacAddict come too us =p
I think MacAddict has larger readership than IMG, but haveing both can't hurt.

Incidentally, just a day before this topic was posted, I decided to post something wolfire related on macrumors.com And I did it. Alas, I failed to attract much attention. It is my shame and I have to live with it.
Anyway, here is the http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=73663 link to the thread... Dunno if it helps... How 'bout this "every little bit..." thing?

Um.... maybe the whole "trying to get lugaru and wolfire's name out" thing should wait until the game is more finished. As is, we don't know a release date, so drumming up interest can't work too well.

Hehehehe... you got flamed by that guy.

All publicity is great; 156 people viewed your post in their forums. The people who aren't interested have no effect, but some people who are interested, even if they don't reply, can be helpful.

However, Disc is probably right; it would be more effective to get publicity once we have a demo and everything, but it couldn't hurt to get some now 8)

Well, the main problem that I see right now in trying to get publicity is that all that they can see are these forums and a few screenshots. This can lead to a quick dismissal of "rabbit ninjas" as seen on the forums. Then those same people who dismissed it won't be willing to come back later when there's actually more to show and hook them.

But yeah, I suppose any pub. can't hurt.

All of my friends who saw the game in action were completely blown away by gameplay. I got interested in Lugaru not when I saw description (something about cool engine... I thought it was not that cool), but when I saw a movie of Turner running and then wall-jumping on level 2. That was it. Now I'm playing the beta almost every day...

So, as soon as demo is out, people will understand
