Additions to Lugaru 2: Minor Changes

Post by Ape » Fri Jan 12, 2007 5:50 pm

Two things that caught my eye that where not included in the original Lugaru:

One.) the ability to move side to side when hanging from a ledge.

Two.) arching back flips, I noticed that when a back flipped off an object I fell straight to the ground. I for one would like to be able to back flip moderate gaps.

While that may be cool it isn't realistic. I spent two years in gymnastics, and I learned that after you do a flip (backwards or otherwise) gravity is going to kick in. Just my two cents.

good point... the reason I brought it up was because while playing with the senario editor I noticed that the character fell down between two bricks even when they where spaced only a few (in game) feet apart.

:P Are you talking about when the character is in ragdoll?

In ragdoll you can get into spaces that are only a few inches apart.

For instance, in the old raider fort, jump onto the level behind Skipper, turn right, and walk toward the outside wall.

When you get there, you'll see a space about 9 inches wide (ingame) where the platform stops short of the wall. Jump into the wall, then ragdoll, and you'll side down into the crack.

You can squirt out if you move towards the opening, but if you move back into the corner with the outside wall, then try to rabbit-run and hit N, you'll actually go through the solid rock wall.

Better hit H first, tho; it might kill you.

There's also a tiny tunnel above the entrance to the Rocky Hall you can explore if you manage to time your movements right.

Dude, with ragdoll you can get into things that are closer than a few inches...I've gotten stuck inbetween the gap of two bricks that were making a wall (the gap was barely noticeable...) by T's foot before. And I was having fun wall hover too...

I noticed that the ragdoll in Lugaru doesn't have knees! Their heads also don't turn from side to side. That's an easy fix.

Do you mean you've gotten your whole body in the gap, or just your foot?

If it's your whole body, let's have a screen.

And what do you mean by "wall hover?"

PS: I played around with your avatar a bit. I like it, but something bothered me about it. Then I realized that you couldn't see the blood, or the evil look on the face, very clearly. Plus it jumped a little too much. So I touched it up; hope you aren't offended.

One more question: how come you can get such big avatars? Mine won't load if they're bigger than 80 x 80.

One of my ideas (way back when Lugaru was still in beta) was that Turner's head would subtly turn in the direction of the enemies :)

Host the image offsite instead of uploading it to the forum.

However, whenever I notice oversized images, I tend to remove them. There is a reason for that limit; bigger images change the dimensions of the tables and make short posts take up too much space.

Yeah, it would be cool if the wall jump let you keep your momentum more. Instead of flipping 5 feet backwards and then falling straight down. You should kick backwards and then keep going backwards with the same velocity.
