Post by DudetheCreator » Fri Oct 15, 2004 2:14 pm

Could you please show me where I can get the source code for Black Shades? And i have a question, are the maps in Black Shades and SOS opengl that just keep recreating themselves?

Eh wot? You have been answered before on where to get the black shades source code, try google too...
Black Shades and SOS do not use the same game engine, they are not even remotely similar.

no offence, but you must be blind! the data directories in both games are the same, and they use the same model type!

Yes, but that isn't the engine.
It makes sense to use the same data directories you are comfortable with.
But the way the data is organized means nothing, look at the actual games which are nothing alike.

What did you mean by maps just recreating themselves?

I think he's confused. As far as I can tell, all the maps in Black Shades are the same, it's just that the enemies are in different places and sometimes different.

game engine

David (ok if i call him by is first name?) should make a game engine for super n00bs, like me and what is davids e-mail? Can i get the SOS source code, just to mess around with? I have a suggestion for SOS:

The bullets should be slightly slower and less damaging, it's cool when you get your leg disabled, but usually you die instead, the player should be able to disable his own body parts if he wants to, and one last tip, the player should be able to sacrifice one body part to rebuild another!

(PS: in SOS i can't save or open maps with command s or o!)
(PPS: make an SOS beta text board!)

Try iGame3d or dim3.
And the reason you can't open or save maps is because the commands are actualy map mapname and save mapname

console

In the console? And I've tried dim3, but it seems kinda picky, and to much is done already so often you have to undo and then redo a lot!

Where do i get the actual igame3d? I know the site, but for some reason it's hard to get a hold of! Is there a map editor for SOS??

Yes, access it by setting debug 1 in config.txt, and then in the game(actualy IN the game, not the menu) press shift-m. After that it works the same as the Lugaru map editor, except you cannot tilt objects.
