Now for a word

Post by Swordarm » Wed Aug 15, 2007 10:34 am

ok, now I finally want to have answered one question:

L2 will allow you to explore the landscape freely (at least I think this was announced), which means that there wont be that linear and somewhat boring mission structure "kill everthing -> next place -> kill everything".

I really like that free roaming thing and I thinks it's a big leap forward in the right direction, BUT: Will L2 be more like RPG games for example Gothic or Oblivion ? Of course, not that deep character development and questing, but will you be able to just vist other cities, talk to people, trade ? Or you hunt some I-dont-know and sell them in town ?
That would be EXTREMLY COOL, so what exactly is the concept ?

I sincerely hope that a few RPG elements are put into the game.

In fact, I think I recall the big cheese mentioning something like that, I'm not sure.

I know for a fact that there will be 3d backpacks, as in, instead of weight being the only thing keeping you from carrying 40 warhammers, there's actual physical space as well.

Hmmm?

I believe the main RPG element which was mentioned was the ability to buy items -- specifically weapons.

From what I can tell, the endings may be open ended as well, (David please confirm this please)

I want and RPG....only if an rpg means multiple endings/storylines and more weapons. I'll be frank here, I'm not playing lugaru for the story or and rpg aspect. I just want to bash someone's brains in.

Line stealer.. :?

Oh and I'm with Nayr here. I'm for RPG if it means what he mentioned in that last post too, as long as it keeps to the general Lugaru feel, which is kicking ass with martial arts using context-based controls.

I believe it is the worst RPGs in the world that give the same feel as the game next to it on the shelf, unless a sequel.

I want some rpg elements, but that doesn't mean branching story lines, religious discussions, or multiple endings. And like, I haven't even heard of anything to show that the endings will be open ended, or that the endings even should be open ended. I think I linear story is much better, it's better to write and it doesn't make the player feel uneasy that he may be going down the lame story path and he should just quit and restart to go down the other.

The rpg elements I want to see in Lugaru are a money system, an inventory system, a map screen you can travel, a place to eat and sleep, friendly npc interactions, side missions, and some character development like learning new moves and gaining more muscles.

If you do that when you play open-ended games then you're doing it wrong.

You do the lame ways first then get the good ones!

That comment was slightly out of context, my friend.
