Oh, Zip, you reminded me to ask David for the source. :D So, David, can I have Lugaru's source code? I'd also like to know what program(s) you used to make it...my friend and I are planning to make a 3D game after we learn C/C++ along with the online Lugaru game, that has nothing at all to do with Lugaru.

I'm going to guess... no?
Lugaru isn't free, why would david give you the source to something he is selling?

no, let them do this. it should be nice :D

(I would learn how to do Cel-Shading by hacking the game :P)

[edit]I believe that is what the guys are 'textured' with, (for lack of better word). However, I have not done it before, so I have no clue. It was of no interest to me when I did NeHe's tutorials.

BTW, it is impossible to "add robots" to a game like Lugaru. And, if David is smart, he won't give the code to anyone except for the porter. (is that the right usage? :P)[/edit]

I'm going to answer for David.

No, you may not have the source code.

First of all, David's Lugaru engine is very valuable. Unless you signed an NDA or something, the answer is flat out no, since David would stand to lose quite a bit of money if you distributed the source code. Since you are probably under 18, that is impossible.

Secondly, you are not nearly good enough at programming. You mention that you don't know C++, which is what Lugaru is written in. That's quite a problem. Even if after many months of studying computer science and C++, you managed to be competent enough to write solid object oriented code, that's only the beginning. You would then have to learn OpenGL and the complex math that goes with it. Given your level in school, you probably haven't started learning about the concepts necessary to understand it.

Finally, even if you have the technical skills to write and understand OpenGL C++ code and math, that's only the beginning. Understanding another programmer's code is a challenge, let alone when it's on the scale of David's entirely original engine.

Well said Jeff.
Blorx: I suggest you start a /simple/ game like Pong, in an easy to use language like BASIC. This will teach you programming concepts and you can move on to C and OpenGL, you have to crawl before you can walk.

Metal Basic is a small, slow, crappy basic compiler, but perfect for your need. Relatively simple to use, I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Ugh, TNT is much better than METAL, much much much better.
Don't even consider METAL.
