Wolfire Desktop Wallpaper
I made a simple wallpaper for my desktop, here it is if you want to use it (1680*1050).
I used GIMP to make it, so if you would like to edit it yourself you can download GIMP and this file. If any of you know how to smooth out the colors in the background I'd be happy to listen. The compression is killing the picture as you can see, if the colors were smoothed it would look MUCH better. But it looks like that in GIMP also so maybe I need to get more colors in GIMP somehow?
You're also welcome to upload your Wolfire related desktop wallpapers here.
I can easily make it in pretty much any size for you if you want to so it can fit on your desktop too.I used GIMP to make it, so if you would like to edit it yourself you can download GIMP and this file. Nice! I have replaced the whale man with this. Now I just need to clean up my desktop so I can see it.

if you have vista, download the "App Launcer v3" gadget.Jeff wrote:Nice! I have replaced the whale man with this. Now I just need to clean up my desktop so I can see it.
I find it good for keeping my desktop clear

It's really cool - though a little bit artefacted. I'm using it as my BG now!

Wow, this is great! I was never very good at GIMP myself. Or Photoshop. And great quality too. Heh, this works well with the "Werewolf Moniter" I have. It shows the current phase of the moon. I got it with Yahoo! Widgets.

Re: Wolfire Desktop Wallpaper
This inspired me to replace my own wallpaper (or was a green gradient...) with one similar to this.
It's nothing special, but I like it. Just picture a white glow sort of at the bottom of the screen, then the Wolfire log oin white to grey gradient from top to bottom with a drop shadow. It's all tinted green/blue slightly as well, cause I like that color =p

Neat wallpaper!
To make your gradients smoother in GIMP, checkmark the "Adaptive Supersampling" when making gradients. The higher the max depth and the lower the threshold, the better it should look, but it'll take longer to process it. I think that this type of thing would be much simpler to do in a vector program like Inkscape (but I may be wrong).
Have fun, and good luck!

If I weren't so dedicated to my current desktop, I'd so totally ask you for a 2560x1600 version
Very nice.
Very nice.

Nice job, I like.
On a random note, I made the ultamate Windows vista Desktop BG:
I put it up on some ones computer and they freaked.

I had a bluescreen in vista once. It wasn't blue though I don't think.... it was black. I can't really remember.

If it was a black screen then it wasn't a blue screen.Ozymandias wrote:I had a bluescreen in vista once. It wasn't blue though I don't think.... it was black. I can't really remember.
It was something else. This is what Vista's blue screen looks like. http://blogs.technet.com/photos/markrus ... ginal.aspx

Huhm, strange, I could have sworn it didn't have a blue screen... maybe it did.
