When you go at the forum main screen, I see a moderator control panel. What does it do? Am I a moderator? This is in wolfire area cuz this is the wolfire forum duh.

Moderators get access to that panel I think. On other forums I've been on it lets you do stuff like merge topics, close them, change their names too I think...

I think it also allows you to accept validating members if the forum has that enabled, which it doesn't.

I can't answer why you have it though have you tried clicking it?

Since this is PHPBB, it should take you to the mod panel. One of the admins has to give you mod powers to be able to see the link or even visit the webpage. It could have been an accident, you should probably PM the devs.

Perhaps the forum automatically gives moderator powers to everyone with a Superman logo in their avatar?

All overt ops members are "moderators" of the overt ops forum, as its sort of like a group wiki.

Basically it is for fan-translations of any and all Wolfire related stuff, into dozens of different languages even including Pirate, Latin and Pig latin

Silly languages aside, The point of it is for fans that have knowledge of other languages to do what the devs can't easily: advertise and distribute press material in foreign languages and send them to various non-english websites. If you know any non-english language, drop John a line and he'll add you.
