Idea for Overgrowth Armor

Post by Monkey » Mon May 04, 2009 7:48 pm

Hey, I found an image of the texture for turner in Overgrowth, so I decided to mess around and make an armored version, so here it is.

Nice!

The chainmail on the upper arms seems to be floating, but other than that, it looks great!

:D

Actually, that's for Lugaru 2 so it's not going to be overgrowth =)

But in any case, I would imagine the more heavily armored people would move slower and not be able to jump as high etc.

Come to think of it, as far as I know, none of the concept art Aubrey has drawn shows them in armor (at least more than a bit here and there.)

FUR!!!! needs more fuzzyness! & some long whiskers also & i think the gap between the nose & eyes is too wide or maybe the eyes are too small?.. i don't know haha, the ears needs to be a tad longer!!! Tail needs to be bigger also >__> i know its not the final design but still..ehh.. whatever =P" still looks WAY better than the lugaru rabbits we got now.

Not only is it not the final design, it's not the design =P

Also, i think that was made before they made the fur shader.

As for the rest of the message: well, it all depends I guess. I'm not an expert on armor and stuff.

You'll have to wait for the squirrel mods =P

Or maybe the devs can put them in vanilla as an extra species not in the campaign

on the topic of armor though, there would be different kinds of armor of course. Also, I wonder how it will be managed with an inventory. If you start a level will you be able to take off your armor if you prefer to be stealthy? or will you be able to loot armor off someone because you know there's going to be a big fight ahead?

Of course you could only wear armor that was made to fit. A rat couldn't wear a dog's armor for example (too big)

Squirrels are really going to be in the game O.o?!?! anyways.. looting armor would be MEGA cool in this game maybe not from other species but only of the same type like rat's can loot other rat's armor. But i think every species should be able to use each others weapons tho just to be fare.

Not in the vanilla game.

Yes, looting weapons would work better. The thing I'm wondering is how this would work with the inventory system (inventory systems have been speculated a few times in SPF)

I also wonder, would certain armors allow more weapon slots?

like, if Turner was running around naked he wouldn't be able to sheath any weapons, but if he put on a belt he could sheath some knives. put on a bit of armor that has a strap on the back and he can have a sword etc...?

A good idea to me would be that when you start off the game you don't have any armor or weapons so you gotta kick some butt to get some =P" unless you could just bust up boxes find someone's stash or something...

I remember in Lugaru you went and killed some guy with a knife and presumably took it. However, the levels started you off with a specific kind of armor and weapons regardless of what you had before. i wonder if there will be some sort of continuity option for campaigns and such.

I don't think that would be much fun unless it was used as some sort of handicap when playing in an easy difficulty. Haha i gotta do more reading i don't even know that when fighting your clothes/armor can be ripped off or not..

Turner in overgrowth 100% done ( joking :) O.o or not )Image

Is that a very white rabbit or does it actually have armor on its ears too?

also, ya, I forgot about that one.

EDIT: Also, the ear looks like it's coming out of the armor very close to the eye =o
