There are no programs that search the entire net... thats a incredibly vast search.
Try calculating every possible IP..

Well.. the NSA might have such a program.

So we're gonna need a server ... maybe if David promised to make an Avara 2 he could strike a deal with Ambrosia and get a Lugaru server

But yeah, I definitely think at some point in time Lugaru should have multiplayer, look at Avara, it's 7 years old and still has some players. Hell, my bro and I still enjoy a game of GoldenEye once every few months when he has some free time 8)

I'd say either run a master server (though since it would cost money this is a costlier option) or even better, implement multiplayer support between two ip addresses, then use a service like Game Ranger or Game Spy to solve the problem of being able to set up an ip address server to obtain them from. On the other hand, you could just run a 24/7 chat room on a popular chat service with the ip addresses of games constantly being immed out into it ;)

Game servers are really expensive.

This is another one of those 'just do it yourself I don't care how hard it is' suggestions, but supposing you could code the server yourself, could you put it on the same server that Wolfire is on now?

Well.. not for just a tracker.
Most webspace doens't come with a shell, so there wouldn't be any tracking unless david wrote a PHP script.

Damn, well, I'm still all for multiplayer :P

As I said, it's what gives games real longevity. Tekken 2, GoldenEye, Twisted Metal 2, Avara, even Fifa Soccer 95 for SNES got a few more years out of it 8)

Obviously, the previous discussion on online servers (ie. Battle.net) would be impossible due to maintainence, cost, etc. However, I would think TCP/IP is possible, meaning direct IP connect. I don't know much about coding multiplayer-functions, but I would think TCP/IP is the most reasonable because one computer is connecting to another via IP number. This method is like killing 2 birds with 1 stone, because it could apply for Internet or intranet (LAN).

So long as multiplayer support actually exists, does it really matter?
TCP/IP support is definetely the best way to go, as it is going to be around the longest and is cross-platform.
