C-c-c-c-combo breaker!!!
Re: The "John's beard" thread!
This is turning into another randomness thread!

Re: The "John's beard" thread!
Uhm, how can a thread about John's beard turn into a randomness thread? i mean, it were kind random in the first place
Re: The "John's beard" thread!
It had a topic in it's randomness.
A topic that made little sense.
Speaking of sense- John's beard.
Let's talk about that.

John is not a robot

or hes a Really great animation environment and character generator

Re: The "John's beard" thread!
Humans usually do the robot. Robots would have just as much trouble with that as any other dance.
Re: The "John's beard" thread!
That's not really true. The problems robots are having with dancing are
1) balancing problems: It is hard to prevent them from falling.
2) trajectory prolems: complicated fluid movements have to use complicated joints and are harder to program than straightforward linear movements.
The robot dance only uses linear movements, so the trajectory problems to be solved are much simpler. The balancing still could be a problem though, but also gets simplified a bit I guess.

Re: The "John's beard" thread!
I would say that the joints aren't so much of the problem as the "balance" is ...
A robot's "sense of balance" is extremely process intensive ... and in general, i think that alot of people in robotics have a tendancy to oversimplify it ...
I suppose it would be possible to make a algorithm that could evaluate the physics of of the robots movement to determine what kind of movements it could do ... some robots have movements pre-programmed ... like an animation ...

Re: The "John's beard" thread!
I know what problems robots have with dancing. Trajectory isn't it. That's high-school level mathematics. Trust me, I'm in high-school. Balance is the only problem, which would be a BIG problem with almost any dance. Still, robots can get around even that issue. My comment still stands either way.
