Overgrowth-Windows 7?

Post by seraph » Sun Jan 17, 2010 12:45 pm

I would love to Preorder Overgrowth and help "support the cause" (the new screen shots look amazing!) but I want to make sure that I will be able to play it. I have run into problems with "backwards compatibility" (as it were) before. Are there any 7 users here?

I'm on Vista and as far as I know Overgrowth is going to be available on windows, linux, and Mac so I don't thinky ou'll have any problems.

If you find that the game refuses to work at all then Wolfire can refund you =P

I can run it just fine on Windows 7 64-bit, and if it works on 64, it will work on 32 bit aswell. So get goin'!

I cannot get the latest alpha to work for me (A-63).
And the last one worked, but froze at resolutions and settings that worked for me on XP.
I keep getting this error:
"The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect."

You'll need the Microsoft C++ 2005 Runtime or whatever it is. Don't exactly remember the name.

Do a search for "side-by-side" or something similar on the forums. There's been a few with similar problems.

Edit:
Wait, nevermind. Check this thread:

works fine on my windows 7 64bit. Depends on the alpha you use and whether your download is corrupt or your video is messing up.

I have onboard Radeon HD 3300, Overgrowth Alpha works just fine even if my copy of windows needs to be re-installed for general "I F'd THAT up" type problems.
