Water and hot air will refract light, but I am not sure if we will actually have any refractive objects or not.

F.E.A.R has some rather nice volumetric lighting effects with dirty windows.. F.E.A.R is pretty.

Ya, also scary as hell. I swear I couldn't play through half an hour of that game with out getting so scared that i had to turn it off (not to mention the constant jumping back from the screen every ten minutes).
Im not so sure about dirty windows because all that would do would create well, dirt. However, I was thinking more about some funhouse windows, you know, the bent ones that twist light, similar to the glass teapot. Seeing this in work with hot air is going to look sick, I don't remember any game that actually used realistic hot air. How will the water differentiate against refractive light? Is their going to be a engine that causes splashes and waves when things hit it? Will their be realtime waves to help refraction or will it mostly be working with still water like ponds, and creeks?
