Phoenix Engine 6-18-05 Model loading

Post by David » Sun Jun 19, 2005 1:50 am

I added a 3ds model loading class, and got a free male and female human model from the Open3Dproject.

is that chrome or glass? it looks like glass to me, and that'd rock if it was. (for the shader i mean)

I didn't know models that have high of a polygon count in your engine.

Keep in mind that at this point that isn't a game, all its rendering is a high poly model, skybox and the shaders.
When you have to manage terrain, animation, all the game logic and 10 characters running around on screen performance drops quite a bit.

That being said, it looks damn sexy ^_^

The top one is chrome, the next one is glass.

technically, he could load a really high def model into there. second of all, i'm sure it's just a test and that his game chars wont be anything near that high poly because textuyring can do that much on it's own.

That is correct; in-game characters will have fewer polygons, but probably look like they have more.

So when you are making your next game on this new engine the main character models will not look as good as these screenshots?
