So either A. That's hypocritical in itself, as you both were using a different definition, and what you tell him can be applied to you, or B. You just told him that you were using a different definition.

Notice how the definitions of the words I used were not "the only correct versions of the words in my eyes". Do you read one part of a sentence and then pick out the words you would prefer to hear and ignore the rest of the words? That's just what you're doing.
It would be like hearing a person saying "I'm a perfectly upstanding citizen, I pay my taxes and have never been convicted, except for that time I was convicted for raping my children." and thinking to yourself "That guy's a perfectly upstanding citizen, he pays his taxes."
