PVP Overgrowth?!

(I have no idea if this was already discussed, if so then sorry and please bear with me on this one, i'm new here)
Hey guys i think i read somewhere on the wolfire site that overgrowth was gonna have multiplayer right? correct me if i'm wrong, i'd like to know it if multiplayer is not included :?
Putting that aside at the time i saw it had multiplayer i was wondering if it was going to be a Co-op with friends in the campaign kinda multiplayer or multiplayer as in Player Versus Player choosing your own character(race) and fighting others in epic battles that might even have some custom maps that are awesome on all kinds of servers or maybe even both?
Now me and a few of my friends have just been drueling over the ideas of making our own maps and having people come in the server and fighting us in our own made map online, please enlighten me if we can druel further about this or if online PVP is not included :wink:

This is a recurring discussion in the hidden SPF forum.

Multiplayer is in no way confirmed, but multiplayer tests were made in very early Alphas. I understand they weren't more than several players moving in the same map, and I have no idea how good or bad lag and such were.

While we haven't gotten an official answer in the most recent threads and I don't remember what it is, I've been arguing that multiplayer is nice but doesn't affect sales if it's not done well, or in an extreme case poorly done multiplayer could cause customer backlash and loss of sales. Some others have gone as far as to claim multiplayer is necessary to stay competitive, and others have taken various stances in between. That's just preorderers thinking aloud and hoping someone in the Wolfire team likes the idea and wants to implement it, though. :D

I think everyone I've seen would like to have some kind of multiplayer, as long as it doesn't hurt the single-player experience.

In my opinion it's not that Overgrowth actually "needs" multiplayer in any way because overgrowth is like the definition of 'awesome' by itself, it's that like you said that almost everyone would like any kind of multiplayer :P and I think I can say that anyone who's played lugaru has been dreaming about multiplayer(I have atleast XD)
But you are right about bad multiplayer and good multiplayer, I mean I'd rather have Overgrowth without multiplayer than Overgrowth with bad multiplayer, ya know.

Even if it does not come with the game, im sure some modders wouldn't be able to resist making it.

If it was that easy, David would do it. There's a reason no one (to my knowledge) is trying to make multiplayer Lugaru, and that would be theoretically possible (since the source code for that is actually available).
