I noticed the blog update about foley for Overgrowth and I'm keen to contribute to that. I'm currently doing my second year of sound production at James Watt college and have been working on foley. Last year me and some guys in my class made this -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT9NUp1worM over a few months, using only sounds recorded ourselves in the studio and around the college. It's far from perfect but I'm pretty proud of it for a first attempt. We have loads of sound effects recorded for the project, including lots of unused sounds. If the developers are interested I'd love to record some sound effects for Overgrowth or contribute some of the ones already recorded.

I don't really know much about how the team is doing SFX, but I do have a couple questions/comments about the video you posted. First, I'll just mention that I think it's very good, and anything I say that sounds otherwise is meant purely as encouragement. (I've spent a lot of time on dub stages working on films, although I focus on music more than SFX...)
So overall, the timing seemed good. However, the actual effects sounded a little thin and small (compared to what we usually hear in films). Some of this may have to do with the mic you are using to record with. I imagine that you will want to record with a larger diaphragm mic to really get some of the lower end you are missing. Also, typically there are several layers of sound all interacting together to really make a sound come to life (I'm sure this would be stuff you'd be learning at school... so sorry if I sound repetitive), so you have a very good initial hard transient, but there is no sustain to the punches (or breaks in the wood, etc). Try layering a few sounds together, and get something low that lasts a little longer, and see what happens.
Good luck finishing school!

I don't know what that means, exactly, especialty the royalty part. It does imply console development is an order of magnitude more expensive. Any way, that is a good article if you're interested in how many sales are needed to break even or make profit, with a PC, handheld, console etc game.

You're not alone.
Both Grayswandir and TheGreatBug have previously got their posts violated.

Hopefully this doesn't get too common. It could get really annoying if spambots would repost random comments from elsewhere on the internet. Except, of course, if they started
posting relevant stuff.

Yeah, that happened to me a while ago in a thread. Stupid spambots.
