Black Shades trouble in OS X 10.3.9?

Post by albuminouslump » Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:11 am

I've downloaded Black Shades for OS X and am attempting to play it on my PowerBook G4 running OS X 10.3.9... but whenever I double-click on the game icon, nothing happens.

Has anybody else run into this? Any suggestions on how to fix it? Is it pretty much a lost cause?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I don't really know how to fix this, and I haven't tried the OSX version of Black Shades, but generally, this means it either has trouble running on your system or the app (not files, application, well, usually) is corrupted.

Don't think you're the only one who tried to run something and had that problem.

Hmm, actually, try reinstalling, or getting the OS9 version and running it in OS9 (if possible) or classic

I'm using a powerbook G4 under OS 10.3.9 too, and BlackShades, OS X version, runs fine. I downloaded it off wolfire.com, my computer's not running any unusual extension, and I didn't touch the config file.

Sorry I can't tell what doesn't work for you, but at least this proves it's not a lost cause :) Good luck!

Thanks for the comments, guys. Still no luck under OS X... I may try the OS9 version, but I'm not hopeful.

Lugaru runs great, though, so I can't complain!

Woohoo, lugaru! 8)

I suggest you should be hopeful, playing on os9 often solves problems, even in carbon-only apps (run in classic checkbox in info window)

Hey there guys. I am running on Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.4 and I have the same problem. I downloaded directly from this site. I imagine it's some sort of library file that is missing or out of sync, or something to do with .dylib files. I'll try on OS 9 and see what happens.

Hey, the OS 9 version runs in Classic mode! Thanks for the tip! Most of the OS 9 games I've tried to play won't run in Classic, so I had assumed this one was the same.

I gotta try that.
But first I gotta install Classic
That's the "AHT & additional", right?
Hm..
