I agree that drunken fighting would be awesome. Especially combined with physics-based animation.

"What did you call my momma!?" *Swings punch and falls over.*

That would be awesome.

I'm glad someone liked my idea.
I was thinking of being on drugs and fighting too.
I'm seeing this scenario where a drug addicted rabbit sticks a needle into Turner, and then he sees rabbits that aren't there.
When he punches them, they disappear.
But I guess that would be very annoying sometimes too.

I just gotta watch my back the- AARRG! God, who put this needle in my back!? It was you! *Rabbit kicks a wall*

It would lead to some funny results, especially if you could do the same.

hmmm

Post by erik_the_fly » Sun Apr 01, 2007 8:13 pm

what really needs to be added is
1) running up walls
2)being able to climb up trees
3)being able to move along walls while hanging
4)bows, which could be aimed in a first person or over the shoulder aiming mode with a crosshair, like in zelda twighlight princess

that would make it the coolest game ever

All or almost all of these are confirmed or presumed to exist in Lugaru 2. Lugaru 2 will be more than the coolest game ever.

Let me just brake this down a bit more.

Running up walls, I dunno.
Climbing trees, definitely. They will grow from complex equations based on the sun and soil, and they will be completely destructable.
Being able to move along walls, I dunno.
Bows, I dunno.

Basically it's just the climbing part that's pre-sumed to exist. You would assume that simply moving along the walls would exist, bows, or wall running, but I dunno. It's never really been said before.

I'm pretty sure bows will be in Lugaru 2, or at least some kind of ranged weapon. (Probably a variety of them)

Climbing trees isn't presumed to exist, it's pretty much confirmed. Bows are presumed to exist. At least that's what I've picked up.

Too bad I couldn't find a good thing for my 1337th post. Happy 1337 day for me!

Bows are being considered but, I dunno. I really think they would be cool, but the problem is that bow and arrows may change the gameplay too much in the wrong direction than what Lugaru is shooting for. Though I hope they can work out some kind of compromise for them.
David wrote: I am still not sure if there will be bows and arrows in L2, but if there are they will probably not be extremely important; there are too many fighting games that were messed up by overuse of ranged weapons (Spartan, Mark of Kri, etc.)
Jeff wrote:The problem with bows and arrows is that they would dramatically change the gameplay. We will test them and see how it turns out, but my personal feeling is that they will be kind of lame.

Like javalins.

Longer range, more damage, but still comparable to the throwing knife from the original Lugaru.

Seems like a good compromise to me.

Plus you'd only realistically be carrying 2-3 at any time so you avoid the "I sit here and kill you all" that you'd get with the bow+quiver combination.

You mean "I sit here and miss you all". If Lugaru 1 is anything of an example, firing arrows at your enemies would most likely end up in them being dodged, depending on the skill of whoever you're fighting.

I don't know...

If there like Aiming with the Rail gun in Quake, it would be a turkey shoot (excuse the pun)

maybe if aiming was like Black shades where the arrow dose not revolve around the cross hair (than again, what cross hair?)
but people will learn to Trace. after hardout using the Rocket launcher in many of these games like Quake and CUBE 2, you realize its not that hard to do.

bows have long range, Could get annoying, and everyone will complain that its cheating, but only if you are the victim of it.
only good thing with these "Quake 1 sniper rifles' as I like to call them, is that they don't have splash damage!

Bows would have excessive ammo witch if the game play has tool usage and crafting (witch I am sure it will have some form of) it...

Javelins are cool.
they get the full body into it!
in Multiplayer they will keep the focus of Close Quarters combat!
They have a good range, but not as great as a bow, but can cause damage, and will need to be removed, and maybe chance on hit pins target to ground!

as for the knife!
Love it, Classic short ranged attack, it rocks!
its also harder to see! and its shiny! Shiny things + Light= Temp blindness! I don't know if thats gonna be in game but it would rock!

now what about chainsaws?!

Bows & Arrows will be tricky to implement,
but it might work.

Javelins, however, would be nice :)
They're more balanced, because there's no ammuntion, and they
can be used as non-ranged weapons too, like the throwing knife but... bigger.
