How do I use Mods and Extra Maps?

Post by The Dead Herring » Sun Mar 12, 2006 1:27 pm

I have played all the maps in Lugaru to death and I would love to be able to play some user created content, but how on earth do I do it?

Thanks for any help!

The Wiki leads to wisdom, young padawan.

To be more specific, you need the console guide to know how to load maps, the maps page to get custom maps and the mods page to get modifications for Lugaru.

You have to unpack the modifications into the appropriate folders.
Since all mods are texture mods, just unpack them into the 'Data/Textures' folder after making a backup of the original data.

Maps have to be placed into the 'Data/Maps' folder. To play a custom map, turn on debug mode in the file 'Data/config.txt' by replacing the lines

Code: Select all

Debug:
0
with the lines

Code: Select all

Debug:
1
The next time you start Lugaru, you'll be in debug mode. Your scores won't be recorded, but you can make your own maps and load custom maps. You open the console by entering some level and pressing the ~ key on american keyboards, the ö key on german key boards and the ø key on swedish keyboards. There you enter

Code: Select all

map blahyadda
if bLaHYaDDa is the map you want to load.

And next time, use the search function, will you ;)

I leaped ahead of myself and worked out how to use maps, but is there any way to load mods straight from the console just like loading maps?

Danish then. Thanks for the correction.

No. You'll have to quit Lugaru, exchange the textures and start Lugaru again. There's no 'refresh_textures' command as far as I know.

…but you can "add a texture to the top layer of your player's texture" by using the "clothes <texture>" command in debug mode :) and "noclothes" if you like fur or need fur, or need new clothes
