Fox skin in progress

Post by »StaffShock« » Mon May 01, 2006 4:19 pm

I'm working on a fox skin, it's in alpha stages now,(just throwing words around) and I'm hoping to make it a little smoother. Any constructive critisizm or suggestions are helpful. Here's a nice picture of it:

Be sure to tweak the proportion sizes, and the overall size.
But that's good so far, maybe the muzzle shouldn't be so white like a wolf's... I forget what else a fox looks like. :)
Edit:left out <n't> among other things

You know... I was playing some Lugaru today... And then I thought:
Will there perhaps be foxes and stuff in Lugaru 2? (Aswell as snakes and stuff, but that's off topic.) You know. Wolves got strength, and foxes got brain or something?

I find the wolves weirdlooking, you know... very lowpoly... So making the fox look smooth might be hard ;)

It's nice, I will say, but it really only resembles a fox in shape. What you need is color. The fur needs to be redder and the white whiter. For an additional skin, make the ears and feet black, like socks in the latter case. Here's a good image from the back. http://www.artchive.com/artchive/h/homer/fox_hunt.jpg

Is that a feature in the scenario you've been working on?

Well, I don't know about this campaign, which contains only rabbits and wolves, but after I get the hang of this I might make a very short campaign involving you playing a fox. (Pretty much a watered-down wolf.)

Also, I've been in the Carribean with no internet, so that's why it took me so long to reply. Sorry about that.

Yeah. the muzzle is really white to be a fox, make it dark.

Foxes have a rather big bushy tail. Also they are crafty. And not as tough as a wolf. The muzzle should be the same color as the head and all the body besides the paws and tips of ears and tail.

Well, the muzzle poses some problems since it's kinda redd-ish there already, but I made white boots with black limbs. And contradicting my first post, there will be foxes in this campaign.

Here's a pic:

looks good. is it somewhat smaller than a wolf? And is there a way to make the tail fluffier?

Well, the reason it's smaller is because I tweaked the proportions, it's something like 0.95 (head) 0.85 for the rest (torso, legs, arms) but some others have been done differently. I can't make the tail bigger or fluffier since I can't tweak it's proportion. It's nice that I can do that much, though. I got it from a kind of weird, head-on angle so the head looks messed up, but it doesn't always look like that.

Very nice work. That is definitely an improvement from the first design and I am sure by the time it is in its final stages it will look even better. The coloration changes and size tweaking really helped. I am getting excited to play a new campaign with FOXES. Well done!

That fox looks disturbingly happy about something. Look at the big smiley-face on him.
