Lugaru in the Ubuntu software centre

I imagine this may have been brought up at some point, but I could find it anywhere, so here goes. I was browsing through the Ubuntu software cent(re/er), and I saw Lugaru was available for download at no charge. Now, I remember something similar happening with (I think?) the Mac app store, where the download was not authorized, so I was just wondering if this one was, since it was listed as free instead of $9.99. Also, the "developer website" link points to http://code.google.com/p/lugaru/ and I don't see any mention of Wolfire whatsoever.

This one?

Lugaru had an opensource release when the first Humble Bundle was happening. http://code.google.com/p/lugaru/ is a legitimate repository (or it was the last time I browsed it).

It seems legit to me. If they got the license right, and provide some means to get at the GPL code, then that's all that matters. (They could even sell it, but would have to make their own assets then, if I remember the license details right.)

Yes, I'm aware of the GPL nature of the code. It's the assets that worry me.

You seem to have a point. I have to say that whatever license Wolfire chose, it was never really 100% clear what's up with the assets.

Anyway, you should contact Wolfire directly to make them aware of a fraudulent redistribution of their content. It's a crapshoot if the folks read this thread or not. http://www.wolfire.com/contact
