The contract work I did during the school year took time away from Lugaru 2 and also really burnt me out on game programming for a while, and I am trying to recover from that. As I realised in another thread, the only way to develop games effectively is if it is fun for the developers, and this constant pressure to release updates is not helping.
Hehe.

You said you didn't have any friends to play with nearby, you need friends to play with nearby for split screen.

And playing split screen on a computer is just silly.

Yes, I know. I did have friends to play with nearby (And still do) but not at this time, and only for about 10% of the average year.

Why? It's absolutely fine if you've got a gamepad or two (I happen to have one.), and still okay if you've got space at the desk for two chairs.

I bet you've never even played split-screen on a computer.

You know why I haven't played split screen on a computer? There is no game with split screen on the computer, because everyone knows it doesn't work.

The only kind of two person game that works fine for the computer is when you have to share the entire screen together, like Lightning Shadow and Marshmallow Duel, or when you take turns, like in Worms. The monitor is too small for any kind of cutting in half down the middle.

How many people do you expect will go out and buy gamepads for their computer just so they can play Lugaru split screen on it? Only the hardcore fans. But how many people do you expect will be playing Lugaru on-line? Everyone. I think coding in split screen will be very low on David's to do list if nobody is going to be playing on it.

Yeah, and... fuck it he took the words right out my mouth, i agree completly with what Zantalos said- only the die hard fans would go out to buy a game pad, and it would be frustrating playing it on half a computer screen. Whereas online play would give the game much, much,MUCH more replay value- i still have some really old games that came out like in 2000-2003 that i play just for the online mode. And it would give you an excuse to knock the price up a little bit.
