You couldn't make bats a playable character. If you were playing a bat, the screen would go black.

It would be interesting to make an audio-only game
I am working on a new audio engine that takes into account the refraction and reflection of sound waves, so echo-location might actually be possible (using headphones).

You could actually simulate sound hitting a wall and then bouncing back?

David's still gonnna make that audio-only game.
It also means he doesn't have to worry about graphics.

That's quite interesting, David. It'll be a bitch to actually integrate into a playable (fun) game, but trying new things is good.

BlackER then. They have horrible vision. That's why they rely on sonar echoes to locate things.

Although the eyes of most microbat species are small and poorly developed, leading to poor visual acuity, it is incorrect to assume that they are nearly blind. Vision is used as an aid in navigation especially at long distances, beyond the range of echolocation. It has even been discovered that some species are able to detect ultraviolet light.

That depends on how you define visual acuity, but in-game the visual effects would be not dissimilar to getting kicked in the face while crouching by a wolf. Much blurriness.

would be interesting to use a sound based program like that to train you're hearing better
