See the problem with Lugaru being Assassin's Creed is the fight mechanics. Lugaru is much more fluid in battle. You are free to roll around, flip in the air, throw your knives, attack multiple enemies at once, and maneuver around the level while in Assassin's Creed's the combat is slow, methodical, based almost entirely off of counter attacks in a planted position. I couldn't imagine Lugaru being at all like Assassin's Creed. The fighting is way different, the scale is much more grand, Turner is much more confrontational, you don't really expect any kind of game play like assassination in plain sight, so everything that makes AC so great like precision climbing, crowd interactions, low profile, high profile modes, a great holly wood chase and escape scene wouldn't be missed if it wasn't there... but I don't know, that game is really awesome so you think something should be taken from it, I don't know what, but the game is awesome, so something.

There are three differences between assassins battles and lugaru battles.

Assassins battles are slower,
You move around a lot more in lugaru battles,
And in assassins, enemies take turns attacking you (which makes fighting ridiculously easy.)

I'd say lugaru wouldn't be lugaru with a battle system like the assassins. Lugaru is more focused on battle, and had a less theatric but more fast and advanced battle system. For example in lugaru you can wallkick, counter-reverse, trip, etc.

True, some of these things annoyed me about Assassin's Creed. The fact that the enemies waited in line to attack you was quite distressing because it did make things far too easy.

However, I still enjoyed the combat system, it was a lot of fun. Assassin's Creed was really a love or hate game. I loved it. Most people said it was repetitive. Some parts of it were repetitive, true, but I enjoyed the game. The combat system was not the main aspect of the game for me, anyway. It was more of the movement system and the exploration of the cities and the general feel/atmosphere of what it would be like to be an assassin. It was really cool.

I wonder how they'll go about making the sequel.

Movement and exploration are, indeed, a very great factor in games.
I really liked the complete freedom lugaru 1 gave me.
It's like, in for example, Super mario galaxy, which is a great game, don't get me wrong, I've just got this kinda cooped-up feeling, only being able to follow the path and continue in a single direction constantly (or, as it may be, multiple directions, but still one path). This doesn't really feel very freedom-like, as opposed to, say, Twilight Princess, lugaru 1, AC, etc...

The movement possibilities, (walljump, grabbing on to ledges, etc) also greatly effect the freedom feeling.

I hope everyone remebers that...
Just making sure Lugaru 2 doesn't pull a Super mario galaxy on us..

Exactly.

One of the best things about assassins is the theatrics— like the noise it makes when you use the hidden blade. Cool.

That would be cool in Lugaru 2 too...

David, we should make you a wishlist.

You just inadvertantly gave a brilliant example of a game which is unhindered by the draw-back of being like you described. Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best games out at the moment. It's really fun.

Well, uh, yeah, I know it's fun, I've played it.
But each mission is still set on following the path to where to go next. there's no actual exploration element, not the huuuuge endless(?) open plain in lugaru, the large and open world in LoZTP, the ability to practically climb everything and get everywhere in AC...

You don't have to follow the set path, you just have to follow the path to succeed.

You don't need to get a star to have some fun with it, just go to a random galaxy and mess around a little.

My point was that, while those are decent features in those games, Super Mario Galaxy does not need that kind of feature. Actually, if Mario was like Lugaru or Assassin's Creed in the way the world is, that would completely ruin the game. It's better how it is.

And the Lugaru plains in Lugaru 1 are not endless. Rofl. You hit an invisible wall. Everyone knows about the invisible wall. :P You could hardly say there's much "exploring" in the levels either. That's not really what it's about. A better example would have been GTA or the Elder Scrolls games.

Weeeeell, okay, I'm using the wrong words.
I know about mario galaxy like that, etc, and I'm not saying it's a bad thing, i'm just using it as an opposite example.

I guess what I meant is the real-like feeling of having that seemingly endless plain around you while fighting, and being able to run from your enemies a loooong way...

I'm not really sure what I mean myself, but, yeah...

...I think I have a need to invent a new word even to explain it to myself...

I think I understand how you feel. Freedom does feel good. The best example, I'd say, is Shadow Of the Colossus...that game was breathtaking.

I know what you're talking about. I like it too.
