I am not able to save my games in my registered version

I have recently registered this game which i like the most . But after playing certain levels when I quit the game and re-enter it starts afresh and i am forced to play from level 1. This means the game does not save. I do have a drive which has permission to write. I tried deleting config .text file in the data folder in the game directory making the game crate this on its own but this does not help. Can anybody please help me . I have a windows XP and i also have many games which does save as it progresses.

Hm..

Do you have to start a new profile, or does the profile reset? If the second is true, try making another, if the second is true and you did.. Damn.

If the first is true I don't know what's wrong.

I'm unsure of how XP handles permissions (If at all) but do you have read/write access to your entire lugaru folder and all enclosing folders?

Are you playing as the user who installed the game? Dunno if that could be an issue, but hey, you never know.
