How do you Change the Character Model?

Post by Sakari » Sat Apr 26, 2008 11:21 pm

I was looking for some help in changing the character model AND skin. To give you an idea of what I had in mind I can show you the following images I uploaded:

For those of you who do not recognize these pictures, they are from the TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender. The figure you are seeing is one of the main characters in disguise as the Blue Spirit, and yes, he is as cool as he looks =-D

Anyhow, as you can see, for the character model I would want to cut off the rabbit ears and possibly add the scabbard on to his back. For the skin I would need to put the mask on the face, and then I could probably just use the normal rabbit skin and add the ninja outfit used in the Temple Campaign.

Also, would it be possible to edit the model for the sword in the game? I would want to change it to the type of broadsword he is wielding.

So does anyone have any ideas of how to do this? Keep in mind that I have never actually done any editing of this game before, and I have been speaking purely conceptually so far. So it would be safer to assume I have no knowledge of how to go about doing this, and just start from the beginning. =-D

Thanks so much for your time and help!

I'm afraid that the filetype used for models (.solid) has been sort of "locked". In a manner of speaking.

Bluntly, even David has forgotten how the .solid file works.

I think you'll just have to wait for Lugaru 1.5 (Or whatever it's called)

You can, however, change the textures. You could have a Blue Spirit rabbit.

And yes he is awesome. Avatar is just awesome in general.

Hmm, are you sure about the models for (.solid) being locked?

And also, how would I go about changing the textures?

In the lugaru folder, go to "Data". Then Textures.

I don't know much more about it.. I only really know where they are.

...so will the rabbits now be able to shoot fire? KICK-AWESOME.

Yeah you can't change the models, sadly, only the textures.

Just replace the textures in the data folder with your own. If you want to create new clothes...create them in a .png file based off of the ones already there. Then, turn on debug mode and use the console to add them as such:

clothes filename

Check the wiki for more stuff.

Lol...nice. Well I am not sure if this is enough guidance for me to do this, but I will see where I can go from here. Thanks for your help.

...oh, shooting and breathing fire will be the next thing I work on Ragdollmaster. =-D
