To the things you're not sure about:

When you are using a knife...if you slash somebody 3 times in a row, on the third time you will stab and kill them.
For the stick...perhaps you hit him down into the ground and he bounced high into the air? That happens a lot.

Sometimes if you hit someone with a staff, the angle gets wacky (Don't get any funny ideas…) and you send them flying high into the sky, rather than far off into the distance but not very high.

Well, it did work with a rabbit, to slit his throat, just not with a wolf, I'll try that now. :)

EDIT: Nup, didn't work. :(
Guess you can only ''Traochotomy'' a wolf. :roll:

actually it's not just if you slash three times, they have to get down to a certain percentage of their health before you can do the puncture
